From humble roots as a homeschool co-op, MSM is a registered, non-profit, private Montessori school serving the area around West Virginia's New River Gorge National Park.
Here, children ages 3-12 enjoy the wild and wonderful nature of southern West Virginia while engaging in dynamic literacy and STEM lessons, as well as learning how to be a positive, contributing citizen of their community. Enrichment programming for music, art, agriculture, physical education, entrepreneurship, and more give our students opportunities to explore their interests and stretch their imaginations.
Grace and courtesy are always a key focus in every classroom as we “follow the child” through each plane of development, giving them the guidance and respect they need to grow into a true steward of Appalachia and beyond.

The kindness and respect the teachers have for their students, the learning method and tools, and the dedication of everyone involved are just a few examples of what so strongly draws us to this school. Because of NRGLC we spend more time in WV then we probably would otherwise. |
My daughter has attended this school since the age of three, and I couldn't imagine a better academic or social environment. Her standardized test scores reflect the academics, and her respectful behavior and excitement about school reflect the school's loving, community-oriented approach. I'm thrilled that such an opportunity exists in such a small town...This school is truly a gem. |
“Enrolling our child at the NRGLC has proven to be a great decision for our family...Having little knowledge and experience with the Montessori approach to teaching going into it we have certainly been impressed so far. |
